Meet Dr. Thomas O. Markel

Education

Dr. Tom Markel joined Jackson Radiology Associates in 2006 after 16 years in the Air Force. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and attended medical school at the University of California at San Francisco. He completed both Transitional Internship and Radiology Residency at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base, California. He served as a General Radiologist specializing in Primary Care Imaging for 5 years at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, then completed a two year fellowship in Neuroradiology at the University of Utah. He spent two years as Neuroradiology Professor at Wilford Hall Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas, and a short tour as Chief of Trauma Imaging at Balad Air Base, Iraq.

Clinical Interest

Dr. Markel is certified by the American Board of Radiology with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology. His clinical interest is making imaging "user-friendly" for referring clinicians.

Personal Bio

Tom is a Christian who lives with his wife, Deborah, in Jackson. He has three grown children and enjoys travel, reading, and computer gaming.
